Kiama is not blessed with too many ‘easy’ rides, due to the town’s hilly geography. The rides below include suggestions for rides in the local area which may involve a short drive or train trip to the starting point.
1. (Kiama) Black Beach Pool to Bonaira Reserve (10 km Return) A short scenic ride along the Kiama coastline, mainly on cycleways and shared paths. Although only a relatively short ride, there are a few short sections that include minor gradients. View Black Beach to Bonaira Reserve in a larger map
2. (Shellharbour) Windang to Yallah (25 km Return) A 25 minute drive to Windang (north of Kiama), then a flat ride along the cycleway adjacent to Lake Illawarra to Oak Flats, then through quiet residential streets to Yallah. View Windang to Yallah in a larger map
3. (Wollongong) Stuart Park to Sandon Point (26 km Return) A flat scenic ride along a coastal cycle path. This path can be very busy, especially on weekends and holidays – so an early morning start is advisable. The start of this ride in Stuart Park at North Wollongong – a 40 minute drive north of Kiama. Alternatively you could catch a train to Thirroul and ride back to Wollongong (or to Kiama if you would like a long ride!) View Stuart Park to Sandon Point in a larger map
