This page is published by the Kiama Bicycle Users Group (Kiama BUG), to support the Kiama Rides visitors booklet.

The Kiama Rides booklet is available at the Kiama Tourist Information Office at Blowhole Point, or online at Kiama Tourism.

The ride notes listed below provide turn by turn navigation guides and hospitality information relating to the ride routes published in the Kiama Rides booklet. 

The guides below are digitally portable, and are easy to read on a phone (Android or iPhone with Google Docs installed) when on a ride.

Ride 2 Jamberoo Valley Farming Flats >>>

  • Scenic rural landscapes, featuring dairy farming, grazing cows.
  • 7 km return (or turn around anywhere along the path).
  • Ride along a flat shared path.
  • Suitable for children with cycling experience.
  • Ride as far as Browns Lane, then return.
  • No toilets or café facilities on shared path ride, though available on extension ride to Jamberoo. 
  • Ride extensions:
    • Jamberoo Township: +7 kms return
    • Minnamurra Rainforest: +20 km return
    • Jamberoo and/or Minnamurra Rainforest extensions – for experienced on-road riders only.
  • Car parking: In Swamp Rd, where the shared  path  commences.
  • Cafes: Jamberoo / Minnamurra Rainforest (on extension rides).
  • Toilets: Jamberoo / Minnamurra Rainforest (on extension rides).
  • Public Transport: Nearest train stations at Kiama or Minnamurra.

Ride 3 Coastal Scenes, Paddock Dreams >>>

Kiama Downs - Jones Beach

  • Coast, wetlands, rivers, and farmland.
  • 16 km return.
  • Park at Trevethan Reserve on the Minnamurra River.
  • Ride south through Minnamurra, over the beautiful Minnamurra Headland.
  • Ride through the residential area behind Jones Beach, then head west through Kiama Downs on a shared path along the Minnamurra River towards Jamberoo.
  • Optional extension:
    • Follow Swamp Rd pathway towards Jamberoo (+ 10 km return)
  • Car parking: Trevethan Reserve, Minnamurra River.
  • Cafes: Jones Beach / Minnamurra / Jamberoo (on extension ride).
  • Toilets: Jones Beach / Minnamurra.
  • Public Transport: Minnamurra railway station.

Cathedral Rocks photo

  • Explore Kiama’s rocky coastline.
  • 10 km return.
  • Take in views of Cathedral Rocks.
  • Visit the Boneyard Beach for a refreshing ocean dip, then continue south, passing the unique landscape of Bombo Headland.
  • Enjoy spectacular views of Bombo Beach, the Pacific Ocean and Kiama Harbour from Pheasant Point.
  • Optional extension: Kiama Harbour and Kiama Blowhole.
  • Car parking: Kiama Downs Surf Club (carpark opposite)
  • Cafes: Jones Beach / Minnamurra / Kiama CBD / Blowhole.
  • Toilets: Jones Beach / Bombo Beach / Black Beach / School Flat.

Ride 5 Kiama Harbour Cruiser >>>

Kiama Harbour

  • Very short ride, on a flat path.
  • Up to 2 km return.
  • Suitable for children on small bikes with training wheels, scooters, etc.
  • Shared path with pedestrians.
  • Scenic ocean views, ocean pool, town amenities.
  • Car parking: Kiama Harbour.
  • Cafes: In town centre.
  • Toilets: Black Beach and School Flat.
  • Public Transport: Kiama railway station.

Ride 6 Big Blowhole to Little Blowhole >>>

Little Blowhole

  • Take in some spectacular coastal vistas, riding from Kiama’s famous blowhole to the less-well-known Little Blowhole – which puts on a great show with a NE swell.
  • 8 km return.
  • There are some steep hills on this ride.
  • Car parking: Blowhole Point / Little Blowhole.
  • Cafes: Blowhole Point / Tingira St (up the hill from Little Blowhole).
  • Toilets: Blowhole Point, Chapman Reserve.
  • Public Transport: Kiama railway station.

Ride 7 Werri Beachside Adventure >>>

Werri Beach

  • Short ride on a flat path. Suitable for young children learning to ride – small bikes with training wheels, scooters, etc.
  • Up to 4km return, or any length you choose!
  • Path shared with pedestrians.
  • Scenic ocean views, beach access, picnic areas, ocean pool
  • Park at beach carpark at north end of Werri Beach.
  • Cafe and toilets at Surf club. Lunch available at Bowling Club.
  • Car parking: North end of Werri Beach.
  • Cafes: Surf Club? / Bowling Club.
  • Toilets: Surf Club / Bowling Club / North & south end of beach.
  • Public Transport: Gerringong train station (long way!).

Ride 8 Coast to Country >>>

Ride 8 - View from Gerringong Cemetery

  • Calling all adventure seekers!
  • Ride from Gerringong to the Sir Charles Kingsford Smith Memorial Lookout at Gerroa.
  • Park at Gerringong Bowling Club.
  • Kick off the ride with a challenging ascent up a steep hill to the Gerringong Cemetery and Whale Watching Platform.
  • Continue pedalling through Gerringong to join the shared path south to Gerroa.
  • Soak in the sweeping views of farmland and the escarpment to the west, and the stunning coastal views to the east.
  • Take in the local history (and more spectacular views) at the Sir Charles Kingsford Smith Memorial Lookout.
  • Optional extension: Continue on Gerroa Loop (Ride 9 – below)
  • Car parking: Gerringong Bowling Club.
  • Cafes: Bowling Club / Gerringong town centre / Boat Fishermans Club (Gerroa).
  • Toilets: Bowling Club / Rock Pool / Gerringong town centre / Boat Fishermans Club.
  • Public Transport: Gerringong railway station.

Ride 9 Gerroa Scenic Loop >>>

Gerroa

  • Park at Emery Reserve on Park Rd Gerroa.
  • 7 km Loop.
  • Soak in the views of Crooked River and Seven Mile Beach.
  • Ride out to Black Head Reserve on Gerroa Headland.
  • You’ll find a great café and perfect spots for a swim or a beach walk. (7 miles / 12 km!)
  • Car parking: Emery Reserve on Park Rd.
  • Cafe: Riverleigh Ave.
  • Toilets: Emery Reserve.
  • Public Transport: No public transport nearby.
